I have been in the technology industry for over 15 years. Not only has the technology changed significantly during this time but the way people work has as well. People not only want flexible schedules, they also want flexible environments. It is very common now to see flexible, open workspaces where you can work wherever you like. The challenge is, how we accommodate these demands while maintaining security and providing a good user experience.
I started in a development role but moved into infrastructure a couple of years into my career. I was introduced to Citrix early on. Even though the basis of the technology was there, the product offerings have come a long way.
Citrix published apps and shared desktops have been around for a long time. These technologies give technology professionals the ability to deliver applications and desktop experiences to associates quickly and efficiently. Whether the associate is in a new remote office, a home office, or even just needing a new application in an existing office, all of these can be done relatively quickly. By using these technologies in an established environment, technology professionals can move their focus to other technology initiatives. A business could move from a design of having servers and fat clients in their offices to a Citrix environment where they might choose to host all of the resources out of a couple of data centers and provide thin clients to the associates. Once the environment is built, this would definitely change the way a technology team would manage their environment. This would be much easier to deliver new applications and updates to the business associates. Another benefit would be strengthening the business’s security posture by centralizing data.
It is a must for organizations to be able to deliver a user experience that the associates are confident in but those solutions have to make sense from a scalability standpoint as well. By embracing Citrix, both of these goals can be accomplished
Today’s technology landscape seems to change on a daily basis. It seems like a constant juggling act balancing onpremise solutions with Software as a Service solutions. There is the need to keep the user experience fresh so that our associates do not feel we are behind in technology. We also cannot forget about security. Citrix now offersCitrix Workspace which I believe is a game changer. With this offering, the complexity of trying to manage all these different types of technologies can be simplified with one solution. In this complex world of technology, this can help ensure that your company’s data is living in your data center or your cloud environment while allowing users to work from any device, anywhere, anytime. This technology also gives a modern look and feel to the user experience so both the needs of the business associate and the technology professional can be met.
With Citrix Workspace Premium Plus offering, Citrix gives businesses the option of allowing part of the Citrix infrastructure to live in the Citrix Cloud. This piece is managed by Citrix and will allow for updates to be done quicker. This would allow for the Citrix administrators to focus on other items instead of maintaining this infrastructure. This offering could be a good option for a company that has not yet deployed Citrix technologies into their environment.
Technology is at the center of everything that a business wants to do. It is a must for organizations to be able to deliver a user experience that the associates are confident in but those solutions have to make sense from a scalability standpoint as well. By embracing Citrix, both of these goals can be accomplished.
